The YW’s emergency shelter program for families not only meets basic needs for families in crisis but also equips each family member with tools to enhance their quality of life and health, navigate challenges, and build strong community connections.

The YW’s Frederick Street shelter for single individuals closed in 2024, paving the way for a new vision for our shelter services that will better serve the women and gender diverse people we support. The new shelter model will be comprehensive with wrap-around services such as health services, mental health, substance treatment and employment assistance.

We are focused on our plan to design a bold model that not only addresses the root causes of systemic homelessness but also empowers women and provides a continuum of supports for them based on their needs.
