YW's Integrated holistic career services (IHCS)

YW’s Career Services are employment and entrepreneurship training programs for women (cis and trans) and gender diverse people who experience barriers to sustainable income earning opportunities.

Our goal is to create a supportive network of solution focused services for women and gender diverse people, their families, and broader communities by providing career and community resources, interactive workshops and experiences.   

IHCS Youth 15-30 years old

IHCS Youth is an employment preparation program for young people between the ages of 15-30 who are experiencing barriers to maintaining or securing employment. Participants receive training and paid work experience in our bricks & clicks social enterprise store, YW Thrift Boutique, where we sell gently-loved accessories, clothing, books, and home decor. 

Funded by Employment and Social Development Canada, Youth Employment and Skills Strategy for 15-30 year olds.

IHCS: CANADIAN CAREER PATHWAYS FOR NEWCOMER WOMEN (CCPNW)

Canadian Career Pathways for Newcomer Women provides opportunities to learn career building skills such as entrepreneurship, e-commerce, and digital marketing. Funded by Immigration and Refugee Citizenship Canada, this program is for people who have not received Canadian Citizenship yet. Our program supports participants in experiential retail training in YW Thrift Boutique helping them gain the skills they need to secure employment in a changing economy or explore and develop their own small business ideas.

IHCS UPLIFT: RESKILLING IN DATA ANALYTICS

Uplift is a fully-funded post-secondary certification program for women and gender diverse people to advance their technology skills for immediate employment in specialized technological roles.  This online program is delivered in partnership with McMaster Continuing Education, Tellent, and in collaboration of YWCAs across Ontario.   

Participants will have the opportunity to earn a Certificate Of Professional Learning of Data Analytics, complete the Propeller Experience program and receive wrap-around career support from IHCS and industry professionals for long-term success.

IHCS: University of Waterloo's WatSPEED CAREER ACCELERATOR PARTNERSHIP

YW’s IHCS is working with university of Waterloo WatSPEED to support women and gender diverse learners who are enrolled in the WatSPEED Career Accelerator Program. Learners will participate in Uvaro’s Career Success program and receive on-going career coaching from YW’s IHCS team throughout the 13 week programs 1) Digital Transformation and 2) Secure CodingThe career accelerator programs equip learners with the knowledge and experience needed to achieve a new job or promotion in our disruptive workforce.

IHCS: W.A.G.E.S

Warriors. Aspiring to end. Gender Based Violence for. Equity and. Security, a cross-functional program to support tenants of Kitchener-Waterloo’s supportive housing and emergency shelter in shaping their future with skills building through life skills, employment, and entrepreneurial exploration. Funded by Women and Gender Equity Canada the program is designed to promote recovery from Gender Based Violence and drive change to end Gender Based Violence.
