The YW Kitchener-Waterloo has been a crucial leader in the community for more than a century. With countless opportunities for teaching, outreach, support and leadership, it is not hard to see how it is one of the region’s largest non-profit organizations.
Working within several aspects of the community to advocate for women’s equality, including housing, education and child care, the YW Kitchener-Waterloo operates approximately 24 programs at nearly as many sites across the region.
These services are critical to addressing gender equality as well as meeting the ever-changing needs of the women who use them.
The YW Kitchener-Waterloo vision statement reads: “We envision an equitable world where women, families, youth, and children thrive in inclusive communities.”
This is achieved in no small part by their guiding principles, where they pledge to respect individuals, value diversity, support holistic needs, recognize self-determination and hold themselves accountable to their community.
